Enrolling Your Student: What You Need to Know

NEW STUDENTS (K-8TH)

The applications for new students grades K-8th are now available online. In order for your student to be considered for the program, an online application and proof of income (free/reduced lunch eligibility or other documents showing income under our guidelines) must be submitted by March 11th, 2024. Parents will be notified if your student is accepted via email in late March. Horizons serves students that meet our income eligibility guidelines based on the federal poverty levels and household size. Click below for more information.

Eligibility

Horizons students bring a broad range of academic ability and skills to our program. 100% of our students quality for free- or reduced-price lunch in school. Students must meet the following eligibility requirements to be enrolled in Horizons:

  • Have completed Kindergarten and are at least 5 years of age before the first day of the summer program; are currently in grades K-8th.
  • Meet the household income eligibility requirements based on family size and annual income.
  • Families will provide the number of persons in the household and annual gross income information in the online application to demonstrate eligibility.
  • Students must have up to date immunizations required for school attendance or be under the care of a physician to complete the age appropriate vaccinations.
  • Students must attend Savannah Chatham County (or adjacent county) public schools. Students that transfer to private schools after initial enrollment in the Horizons program will still be able to participate.
  • Students must reside full time in the Chatham, Effingham, and Bryan or other nearby counties at the discretion of the Executive Director.

Preference is given to students that have attended previously and their siblings.
