Lifeguard (Part-Time, Summer Only)

Horizons Savannah is seeking Lifeguards for the summer program at an outdoor pool  to lifeguard during structured swim lessons. As a certified summer lifeguard, your primary responsibility is to maintain a safe swimming environment by enforcing all rules and regulations of the pool and surrounding area. In addition to rule enforcement, a certified pool lifeguard may be responsible for chemical maintenance and record-keeping and first aid. A lifeguard is also responsible for inspecting the facility on a daily basis and reporting any unsafe conditions or faulty equipment to the Swim Coordinator.

To be a Lifeguard, you must at least:

  • Be a minimum of 16 years old

  • Have or be able to obtain Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

  • Pass a fingerprint based background check​

  • Lifeguard certification available!

Swim Instructor (Part-Time, Summer Only)

Horizons Savannah is seeking Swim Instructors for the summer program at an outdoor pool during to teach structured swim lessons from the StarFish Swim School Curriculum. As a certified swim instructor, your primary responsibility is to maintain a safe swimming environment and teach small group swim lessons. In addition to rule enforcement, a certified swim instructor may be responsible for record keeping and first aid.

To be a Swim Instructor, you must at least:

  • Be a minimum of 16 years old

  • Have or be able to obtain StarFish Swim School Instructor Certification

  • Pass a fingerprint based background check​

  • Certification training available!

Youth Coach (Full-Time, Summer Only)

Horizons Savannah is seeking individuals to work as Youth Coaches for the summer program during June & July. The Youth Coach is an assistant to the Horizons Lead Teacher. Youth Coaches aid in the classroom duties of teaching and caring for approximately 16 students during a six week summer enrichment program. They are responsible for helping to plan daily classroom schedule and assisting in instruction. They work in partnership with approximately 2 volunteers in the classroom each day, attend swim instruction lessons with students providing encouragement to students, and attend weekly field trips, including outdoor activities. They may be asked to plan and execute special activities for students including but not limited to story time, art, sports, or other recreational or creative opportunities.

To be a Co-Teacher, you must at least:

  • Pass a fingerprint based background check​

  • Provide three professional references

  • 15 years of age by May 1st

Lead Teacher- Lower and Middle Grades (Full-Time, Summer Only)

Horizons Savannah is seeking  Lead Teachers for the summer program during June & July. Lead teachers have the classroom duties of teaching and caring for approximately 16 students during a six week summer enrichment program. They are responsible for planning daily classroom schedule and  instruction. They work in partnership with approximately 2 volunteers and a co-teacher in the classroom each day, attend swim instruction lessons with students providing encouragement to students, and attend weekly field trips, including outdoor activities. They may be asked to plan and execute special activities for students including but not limited to story time, art, sports, or other recreational or creative opportunities.

Reading Specialist (Full-Time, Summer Only)


Horizons is seeking a Reading Specialist who will work as a team player to fulfill the Horizons mission, and create a joyous, inclusive, inspiring and educational culture. The Reading Specialist will work with a team of faculty members to create and implement direct student reading instruction across grade levels and will be supported by the Site Supervisor. The Reading Specialist is an integral part of our summer program’s approach to closing literacy gaps for students and creating a love of reading and learning. The Reading Specialist works in an interdisciplinary manner with lead teachers, STEAM Specialists and the leadership team to develop strategies to engage students in reading across all activities at Horizons.
