Program Director (Full-Time, year round)

Horizons Savannah is seeking a Program Director to manage all aspects of the summer and year-round education programs. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Program Director will ensure high-quality, effectively run programs for all grade levels, K-12. The Program Director will be responsible for building strong relationships with Horizons students, families, staff, and volunteers, as well as partners in the community. As part of a small team, the Program Director will also participate in a variety of administrative activities.

With the support of the Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for the administration of the Horizons summer program at The Savannah Country Day School, St. Andrew’s School, Bethesda Academy, and Savannah Christian Preparatory School including the supervision of four Site Supervisors, Program Specialists, Swim Program Coordinator and Kitchen Managers and oversight of program-related expenditures. S/he provides on-site planning and supervision of events and activities, including Family Nights, closing ceremonies, professional development activities for teachers, and training prior to the summer program. S/he coordinates family connections during the school year, as well as programs for tutoring, student and family engagement and high school students during the school year.

Data & Accountability Director (Part-Time, year round)

Horizons Savannah seeks to hire an experienced Data and Accountability Director whose duties include the management and maintenance of student information and records, data related to program management and outcomes, hiring and on-boarding processes, donor/donation records and financial accounting. This position reports to the Executive Director and will maintain excellent stakeholder relationships for the purpose of efficient student enrollment and data management activities.

Swim Coordinator (Full time, Summer Only)

The Swim Coordinator is a seasonal, temporary position that reports directly to the Executive Director. Horizons is looking for an enthusiastic, team player with a passion swimming. In cooperation with the Executive Director and Site Supervisors, the Swim Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of all swim instruction, testing, swim team and swim events throughout the summer. The Swim Coordinator will work with the Executive Director to maintain the safest pool environment with all needed supplies and personnel. This position is responsible for overseeing lifeguards and swim instructors. This position is also responsible for completing any required swim testing of students, reports on student progress and submitting testing data to the Executive Director or the National Office.

STEAM Coordinator (Full time or Part-time, Summer Only)

The STEAM Coordinator is a seasonal, temporary position that reports to the Site Supervisor.  The STEAM Coordinator works during pre and post program planning and during the entirety of the 6 week program as assigned in the STEAM Coordinator Schedule. In cooperation with the Executive Director, the STEAM Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of enriching Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics program delivery to grades K-8th. This position is also responsible for completing any required reports to appropriate stakeholders.

Lifeguard (Part-Time, Summer Only)

Horizons Savannah is seeking Lifeguards for the summer program at an outdoor pool for the weeks of June 3rd-July 11th to lifeguard during structured swim lessons. As a certified summer lifeguard, your primary responsibility is to maintain a safe swimming environment by enforcing all rules and regulations of the pool and surrounding area. In addition to rule enforcement, a certified pool lifeguard may be responsible for chemical maintenance and record-keeping and first aid. A lifeguard is also responsible for inspecting the facility on a daily basis and reporting any unsafe conditions or faulty equipment to the Swim Coordinator.

To be a Lifeguard, you must at least:

  • Be a minimum of 16 years old

  • Have or be able to obtain Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

  • Pass a fingerprint based background check​

  • Lifeguard certification available!

Swim Instructor (Part-Time, Summer Only)

Horizons Savannah is seeking Swim Instructors for the summer program at an outdoor pool for the weeks of June 3rd-July 11th teach structured swim lessons from the StarFish Swim School Curriculum. As a certified swim instructor, your primary responsibility is to maintain a safe swimming environment and teach small group swim lessons. In addition to rule enforcement, a certified swim instructor may be responsible for record keeping and first aid.

To be a Lifeguard, you must at least:

  • Be a minimum of 16 years old

  • Have or be able to obtain StarFish Swim School Instructor Certification

  • Pass a fingerprint based background check​

  • Certification training available!

Co-Teacher (Full-Time, Summer Only)

Horizons Savannah is seeking Co-Teachers for the summer program during the weeks of June 3rd-July 11th. The Co-Teacher is an assistant to the Horizons Lead Teacher. Co-Teachers aid in the classroom duties of teaching and caring for approximately 16 students during a six week summer enrichment program. They are responsible for helping to plan daily classroom schedule and assisting in instruction. They work in partnership with approximately 2 volunteers in the classroom each day, attend swim instruction lessons with students providing encouragement to students, and attend weekly field trips, including outdoor activities. They may be asked to plan and execute special activities for students including but not limited to story time, art, sports, or other recreational or creative opportunities.

To be a Co-Teacher, you must at least:

  • Pass a fingerprint based background check​

  • Provide three professional references
